IBAN Checker - Validate IBAN Numbers
Enter an IBAN number below to validate its structure and check digits. Our tool verifies the country code, length, BBAN format, and MOD-97 checksum.
What is an IBAN?
An International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is a standard international numbering system used to identify bank accounts across national borders. It consists of a two-letter country code, two check digits, and up to 30 alphanumeric characters for the Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN).
How IBAN Validation Works
- Check the country code (first 2 characters) against known IBAN countries
- Verify the total length matches the expected length for that country
- Validate the BBAN structure against the country-specific format
- Perform MOD-97 checksum validation: rearrange the IBAN, convert letters to numbers, and verify the remainder equals 1
